The ‘Alaskan Bush People’ Cast Has Changed a Lot Since We Met Them in 2014: Then and Now Photos

In the years since Alaskan Bush People first started airing in 2014, the Brown family have changed a lot. Not only have they gone from the wilds of Alaska to the glitz and glamor of Beverly Hills to the way-less-remote wilds of Washington, they’ve also just grown up.
From breakups to cancellation rumors, In Touch takes a closer look into the cast of Alaskan Bush People.

Billy Brown
Billy tied the knot with his wife, Ami Brown, in 1979. The pair welcomed seven kids, Matthew, Gabriel, Rain, Snowbird, Joshua (also known by the nickname “Bam Bam”), Noah and Bear, during their 49-year marriage.
Unfortunately, the Brown family patriarch died in 2021 after suffering a seizure, his son Bear confirmed in an Instagram post at the time.
“Our beloved patriarch Billy Brown passed away last night after suffering a seizure,” he wrote. “He was our best friend — a wonderful and loving dad, granddad and husband and he will be dearly missed. He lived his life on his terms, off the grid and off the land and taught us to live like that as well. We plan to honor his legacy going forward, to continue with his dream. We ask for privacy and prayers during this painful time!” Billy appeared on the show since its debut in 2014 up until his death.

Now making strides in her health, the mother of seven frequently shares her numerous outdoor adventures with her more than 87,000 Instagram followers.
On February 25, 2025, Bear revealed via Instagram that his mother had just been released from the hospital after suffering a health emergency. However, she seemed to make a speedy recovery, as she posted an Instagram selfie from a hike on March 16, 2025.

After a rehab stint in 2016 for alcohol addiction, he moved to California. He launched his YouTube channel in 2019, which he regularly updates with content about his life after the show.
The channel boasts more than 48,000 subscribers and brings in thousands of views per video.

In March 2025, Bear addressed the swirling rumors that Alaskan Bush People had been canceled by clarifying that they were officially “on hiatus.”
The next month, the reality star also apologized for taking an April Fools’ Day prank too far after pretending he’d accidentally cut off the tip of his finger.
“I am going to get a little bit of hate for this, and I apologize straight off, guys,” Bear admitted in an Instagram video posted Wednesday, April 2. “I apologize, but when I got my finger yesterday, it was actually an April Fools’ prank. So, anybody that I got, I gotcha, anybody that I didn’t get, I didn’t get. But I also apologize.”

Noah Brown
Noah is the youngest of the Brown brothers as he was only 20 years old when the show premiered. Noah has also started a family of his own. He married wife Rhain Alisha in August 2018, and they welcomed baby No. 1 together — a son named Elijah Connor — in February 2019. They expanded their family when they welcomed baby No. 2, a son named Adam Bishop, in October 2021.
Noah and Rhain confirmed their split following six years of marriage on January 28, 2025.
“We just wanted you to hear this from us, instead of from somewhere else,” Noah said in a video statement shared to TikTok. “Rhain and I have decided it is in our best interests to separate. We are going to take a break for a while and we are no longer together.”

Snowbird Brown
Snowbird was already legally an adult at 18 years old when the show started. Bird was the last of her family to join social media, now boasting an Instagram profile with more than 192,000 followers.
The reality TV alum runs an Etsy shop, SnowBirdCrafts, where she sells hand-crafted earrings, candle holders and more.
Snowbird went public with a cancer scare during season 14 of Alaskan Bush People, which premiered in 2022. After experiencing abdominal pain, Bird’s family forced her to see a doctor — where she learned that she had a large cystic tumor that was taking up her entire abdomen. Bird underwent surgery to remove two large tumors, but the procedures were not captured by reality TV cameras due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The doctor reassured Bird that she did not have cancer, but cautioned that there is a greater than 50 percent chance of cancer or the tumor returning in the future.
In April 2024, Bird shared a health update regarding her condition with fans. “I have some tests coming up just to make sure they haven’t come back but so far they haven’t, then I have my six-month appointment with my main doctor,” she told her Instagram followers. “I also have some blood work and a couple of other tests coming up, just to make sure nothing has come back but hopefully it hasn’t.”

Rain Brown
The youngest of the clan, Rain, was only 10 when we first met her during season 1, but she always seemed wise beyond her years. The now-grown-up is in a happy relationship with a man she met at work.
“I was a waitress, and he was the head chef, we were fast friends and slowly fell madly in love with each other,” she captioned a January 2024 tribute. “It was like magnets that you just couldn’t keep apart any longer, one day I came to visit and I never left.”
While Rain denied marrying Josiah Lorton in June 2023, in December 2024, she confirmed that they had since tied the knot and changed her name on social media to Rain Lorton. She regularly shares updates on her life and her relationship with fans on her Instagram, which boasts 401,000 followers.
