As fans eagerly await the premiere of Sister Wives Season 20, speculation is swirling about the apparent unhappiness of one cast member.
This season, TLC offers an intimate look into the lives of Kody, Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn Brown. Over the past four years, the once-unified polygamist family has fractured, and each member has embarked on a deeply personal journey.
Reddit fans suggest that one cast member seems the unhappiest this season, fueling online speculation. Kody’s primary partner, Robyn, now appears to be shouldering the heaviest personal burden.
After years of fan chatter that Robyn was the favorite, now she’s Kody’s only wife. However, the newest teaser shows she appears to be anything but happy.
“It’s no fun being the one left standing,” wrote one follower after viewing the new clip. “Suddenly, winning Kody isn’t so valuable anymore.” A second claimed, “I think it’s because she enjoys the competition and coming out on top, and that doesn’t happen when she’s the only one.”
Kody’s Search For Another Wife
PEOPLE Magazine reported that in the newest Sister Wives trailer, Kody tells Robyn that he has received new messages from women who are interested in joining their family.
“I got another one of those emails from some woman asking sort of like to get to know us for the purpose of joining the family,” he tells her. He finds the situation funny, but it appears Robyn does not.
Her reaction comes on the heels of Season 19’s One-on-One episodes, where she shared, “I had a different plan for my life. I was going to live a plural marriage.”
“I was going to be a part of a big picture, a big family. That’s been taken away from me.”
However, when the idea was brought up, Robyn appeared nonplussed at the prospect. Kody’s legal wife was in the crosshairs when it came to entering polygamy again.
Accepting a new woman into the family could risk Robyn being second in Kody’s affections. Resisting might signal that she never truly embraced polygamy, which would make her insistence that Kody work it out with his wives before they left a moot point.
However, per E! News, Robyn said in a Season 19 confessional, “I always choose Kody. However it is, it’s with Kody.” He added that he would never choose polygamy again because he already “failed” at it.
Sister Wives Season 20 debuts on TLC at 10 p.m. ET beginning Sunday, September 28, 2025.
