Sister Wives: Meri Refused To Hear Kody Out During His ‘Apology Tour’
In the most recent episode of the TLC show, Kody went to speak with his first-ever wife, Meri. Though he planned to say he was sorry for his past behavior, things quickly went off the rails, causing Meri to put him in his place.
Kody Came To ‘Apologize’ To Meri
In the most recent episode, Meri agreed to meet Kody to hear his apology. Those who have been following the season thus far will know that Kody plans to meet with all of his ex-wives and offer them an apology for his past behavior.
When he met up with Meri, however, instead of apologizing, he seemed to air his grievances about her friends instead:
I want you, more than anything, to just be able to move on [but] the way your friends talk about me, that doesn’t seem like it… I wanted you to be able to do that.
His comment struck many viewers as condescending, as he assumed Meri wasn’t able to get over him and that even her friends were hung up on him. Before he could go any further, Meri put her hand up, cutting him off.
“You can stop right there,” she said, seeming to surprise Kody.
Meri Fired Back At Kody
Meri made sure it was her turn to speak, and she took the opportunity to tell Kody that she was done letting him control and speak over her:
Don’t bring up my friends and what they say. Because guess what? I’m going to tell you this, Kody. I’m going to tell you. You’re not going to shut me down anymore.
While Kody insisted he wasn’t trying to argue with Meri, she appeared irritated that he’d chosen to approach the conversation in the way he had. Later on, Kody confessed to the cameras that he regretted the way he’d handled the encounter.
While he’d genuinely meant to apologize to Meri, he’d allowed himself to make a dig at her friends, which he later realized was a poor idea. “I [know that I] don’t need to win an argument and I don’t need validation here. And yet, I’m triggering. And I’m like, ‘Dude, just just stay on point. Just apologize again,'” he said, kicking himself.
