‘Seeking Sister Wife’ Lorrana Left The Merrifields Right After Giving Garrick His First Baby!

Lorrana, Garrick and Dannielle Merrifield’s family just got a little bigger!

The Seeking Sister Wives stars welcomed their first baby together since Lorrana joined the family as a sister wife, a daughter named Sarah Mae Merrifield. The new addition joined the family on July 3 at 7:46 a.m., weighing 8 lb., 8 oz. and measuring 21 inches long.

While sharing the news exclusively with PEOPLE ahead of the Monday, Nov. 17 episode of the TLC series, the newly minted family of seven opens up about the pregnancy, the birth, co-parenting and how the little one’s older siblings are adjusting to the new addition.

Lorrana, who tied the knot with Garrick on Oct. 9, 2024, tells PEOPLE, “I am so happy to see Sarah growing up alongside her siblings, creating bonds and receiving so much love from the whole family.”

“She is very smiley, always with a wide and cheerful smile when she sees each of us,” she continues.

“Baby Sarah is definitely a squeaker. She is loud. I wonder if she might be an opera singer someday. She’s got some lungs on her,” adds Garrick, referring to their little girl. “I’m excited to see more of her personality and seeing her and Leia as sisters playing together and growing up together. It is such a blessing that we had Sarah at this time, so Leia will grow up with her also.”

Lorrana tells PEOPLE her pregnancy was filled with a “mix of feelings and emotions” as the experience was completely new to her.

“It was something new for me to feel something growing inside me: a human being. I’ve always been very emotional, but during pregnancy I was three times more emotional,” she explains. “Every kick I felt from my baby was an inexplicable sensation. I also had a lot of nausea and felt very unwell, but I came to understand the changes in my body.”

Reflecting on the moment she found out that she was pregnant, Lorrana shares that “everything has become new and magical” for the family. She adds that her first pregnancy sign was “an intense craving for tomatoes with salt.”

“One day, at a Mexican restaurant, nothing seemed to have any taste; even my drink seemed strange. Garrick and Dani noticed that I was different, and Dani suggested that I take a pregnancy test,” she says. “At first, I denied it, but a few days later I decided to take the test, and it came back positive.”

She adds, “I could hardly believe it! My heart raced, tears of happiness streamed down my face, and a unique feeling overwhelmed me.”

She shares that that moment began to change the family’s lives, bringing in new routines, feelings and emotions.

“But, above all, an enormous feeling of joy and love accompanied us as we planned her arrival, buying clothes, decorating the room, and dreaming about every moment to come,” Lorrana tells PEOPLE.

Looking back on her birth experience, Lorrana says it was “a bit delicate.” She tells PEOPLE that she had to induce her labor, but couldn’t progress because her daughter was breech. After 36 hours trying for a normal delivery, she had an epidural and a cesarean section.

“In short, they were delicate moments, but, thank God, everything went well, and my baby was born healthy and beautiful. Holding her in my arms brought me a peace and love that I had never felt before,” she shares. “In the first few days, I felt a little emotional. I had just given birth and was recovering from the cesarean section, still in pain. I even had difficulties breastfeeding my daughter. It was a very difficult process for me.”

“Breastfeeding is a beautiful connection between mother and daughter, and seeing that it was difficult for me, I felt guilty,” she adds. “But, thank God, things worked out.”

Above all, Lorrana says she was “grateful” for the help and support from her family, especially from Garrick and Dannielle who were with her during sleepless nights.

“We took turns some nights so I could sleep a little, among other things. Now I feel much better, both physically and emotionally, and I believe that, little by little, things will return to normal,” she explains. “But, definitely, I feel like a new woman after the birth of my daughter.”

The plural family all agree that co-parenting with each other has made the experience of welcoming a newborn even better for them.

“Co-parenting as a plural family has been wonderful, to have all the support and be there for each other. It’s a blessing to have all of our family involved helping each other,” Garrick tells PEOPLE. “It’s definitely allowed us to do different things.”

“Lorrana and I have been able to go on trips when Dannielle took the kids, and vice versa Lorrana is taking the kids so Dannielle and I are able to celebrate our anniversary,” he adds. “It’s been a big blessing to have such a big family with all the love and support and to be there for each other.”

Echoing her husband’s sentiments, Dannielle tells PEOPLE that co-parenting together as a plural family has been “special.”

“With Garrick and I having three children already together, I think it has been a help, but we continue to learn new things after all this time,” Dannielle says. “It has been nice for Lorrana and I to be able to help each other as mothers and give each other breaks. It has also been equally as special to see Garrick become a father again to two girls which is a whole different ball game.”

“I remember having the boys back to back and it was a lot of work to do on my own, but now having another mom and us doing it together really does lighten the load to have that support,” she continues. “It’s so special to have Lorrana in the house and that we are actually a family now, living plural and experiencing all the benefits of the lifestyle that God has called us too. It is really a blessing growing our family.”

Dannielle goes on to give some insight in how her family is adjusting to their newest addition.

“With the big age gap, the boys are out of the house doing their own thing. Between them, I think Solomon is the most excited. He seems to like children and engage with them naturally. Geremiah also likes talking to Sarah,” she explains, referring to her older sons with Garrick. “But Leia absolutely loves Sarah. It was an answered prayer, Lorrana having a baby girl.”

“We were all a little nervous how Leia would respond since she has been the only baby in the house so far, and with the boys almost being adults, Leia gets a lot of attention. But it really has been beautiful seeing Leia just love ‘her baby Sarah,’ she is so sweet with her,” she adds. “We are all excited to see their bond as they grow up together. Even seeing Sarah respond to Leia and laugh and smile with her, it’s so very special. “

Garrick also shares with PEOPLE that he is enjoying seeing the sibling dynamic between his four children.

“The boys and Leia are really enjoying having a new sibling, especially Leia. She’s very happy and everyday she wants to see her sister and talk to her and hang out,” he says. “She tries to play with her and feed her. She always says, ‘let me see baby Sarah.'”

“Geremiah and Solomon are really enjoying the baby, but they are teenagers so they’re not as involved but they definitely are happy and thankful to have another sister,” he continues. “I think it’s a blessing to see all the family members blending together well and just a blessing to have each other.”

Garrick concludes, “It’s weird to have multiple siblings in today’s age so the fact that they have four of them, it’s a big blessing, and we’re looking forward to a lot more babies to come.”
