3 Family Members From Popular Reality TV Show Killed

TLC has never met a large family it hasn’t put on reality TV. The shows were especially popular in the 2010s. That decade, the network launched 7 Little Johnstons, OutDaughtered, and many other shows during this time period. But not all of the shows received more than one season.

Meet the Putmans starred Bill and Barb Putman, their four kids, and the extended family who all lived in the same house together. The show ran for six episodes. It was later revived in a YouTube series called Growing Up Putman in 2021.

Isabelle Putnam shared on social media in September that three members of the family were killed in a tragic car accident. She lost her grandfather “Papa” Bill Putman, grandma “Neenee” Barb Putman and her aunt Megan.  Several other members of the family were injured in the car crash. A recent update revealed that one family member, Gia, had 10 major surgeries as a result of the crash, per Entertainment Weekly.

Pavel B. Shchukin was found responsible for the crash in Tuscola, Michigan, that claimed the lives of the three family members. He just received a shocking sentence.

Surviving Putman Family Members Speak Out Over Shocking Sentence

The surviving Putman family members keep fans updated about the progress of those injured. In a social media post before the sentencing, they released a statement about the tragic accident.

“Our family has been and is going through some major challenges, to say the least, for the last three months now. We’ve lost three guiding Godly people in our lives who we looked to for wisdom every day. We fought for our kids’ lives with four of our kids in the hospital at one time,” the post began.

The post continued, “Our family hasn’t been fully together since September 26. And today, three months later, is both the plea and sentencing of the man who caused the accident where our family will speak to him in the courtroom for the first time.”

“One might say that our family deserves a break, that we’ve endured enough. But although our earthly bodies may be broken and hurting and exhausted and want that break, our hearts and souls are still crying out to God, ‘Use me, dear God! Take this and use it for good!’”

Despite the massive loss of three family members at once, the surviving Putmans are leaning on their faith more than ever to get them through.
