Jeff Probst Reveals The Big Secret: Survivors Are Moving To A Whole New Island!
Over the last 25 years, “Survivor” has been filmed in exotic locations all across the globe from the Brazilian Highlands to the Australian Outback and beyond.
While the flagship American series has seemingly found its permanent home on Fiji’s Mamanuca Islands, international versions of the franchise continue to test castaways by hosting seasons in the jungles of Samoa, Thailand, South Africa, New Zealand and more remote locations.
Now, the international franchise is reportedly scouting new islands to host upcoming seasons of “Survivor”s various global spin-offs.
Philippines’ ‘Survivor’ Spin-Off Looking for New Island Paradise
Since the show’s inception in 2000, “Survivor” has celebrated numerous successful spin-offs across the globe, including franchises in South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Mexico, Australia, Japan, the Philippines, Finland, France, the U.K. and more.
For each international series comes even more remote playing fields to push castaways to their limit in order to win the title of “Sole Survivor.”
CBS/GettyNow, it seems that the Philippines’ Dinagat Islands could be the next location to host a future season of “Survivor” after producers scheduled an upcoming visit to scout the archipelago between December 2025 and January 2026.
In a letter to provincial officials, Jon Bel Martinez of Philippine Film Studios, Inc. (PFSI) – the production company behind the Filipino version of “Survivor” – outlined his plans to scout the area in search of “remote islands with minimal human footprint, ranging from lightly touched environments to completely uninhabited natural reserves” to serve as the filming location for future seasons.
Local Government Supports Bid to Host ‘Survivor’
After receiving Martinez’s letter, Philippines Governor Nilo Demerey Jr. welcomed the prospect, calling it a “tremendous opportunity” for the Caraga region where the Dinagat Islands are located.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for Dinagat Islands to be showcased on the global stage,” said Demerey Jr. in a statement on Saturday (November 22). “We have islands that are pristine, untouched, and naturally breathtaking. These are perfect for the kind of immersive and rugged experience that ‘Survivor’ is known for.”
The Governor similarly praised the project’s potential to increase tourism and raise global awareness for the region’s ecological richness.
In his letter, Martinez additionally assured that PFSI would work closely with local officials to ensure that production abides by environmental and cultural regulations if the Dinagat Islands are chosen to host a future “Survivor” season.
“We are ready to assist PFSI in identifying suitable sites and providing logistical support. This project could be a game-changer for Dinagat,” added Demerey, pledging the provincial government’s full cooperation in bringing “Survivor” back to the Philippines.
PFSI has previously partnered with “Survivor” franchises in France, Sweden, and the United States to host new seasons of the series in the Philippines.
To date, four seasons of the U.S. series have called the Philippines home, including, naturally, “Survivor: Philippines” (2012), as well as “Survivor: Cagayan” (2014), “Survivor: Blood vs. Water” (2013) and “Survivor: Caramoan” (2013).
