When the host asked whether it was $8000 per episode, he said it was much more than that. It seems the Derricos earned $25,000 per episode, which is quite a large amount. However, he explained the other side of it.
He explained that the sum is not large, given that there are 16 people in the family. He also revealed that TLC wasn’t paying for GG or Erik, so they had to be paid by Deon and Karen. Moreover, he was displeased with the show’s legal terms. The family couldn’t turn their reality TV fame into secure sponsorships or collaborations.

Doubling Down With the Derricos star Deon and Karen divorced after nearly 20 years of marriage. More than a year later, Deon Derrico says that neither he nor his ex-wife, Karen Derrico, is dating anyone or rushing into relationships. Instead, they are focused on co-parenting and raising their 14 children.
Deon recently sat down for an interview on an episode of The Sarah Fraser Show. He shared that both he and Karen are currently single. “At this point, we are just working it out as a family collectively. No, I’m not dating. She’s not dating,” he said. With 14 children—including quintuplets, triplets, twins, and singletons- Deon explained that dating is quite difficult. “Our biggest concern is our children,” he said, and added that bringing in romantic affairs into this is not easy.
Deon also made it clear that infidelity was not the reason for the divorce. Instead, the marriage broke down over major differences, especially around parenting. He said the breaking point involved their daughter Darian and her college plans. Karen wanted Darian to apply to NYU, but Darian was unsure. “I support anything our children want to do,” Deon said. He claimed Darian felt pressured and confided in him, which led to conflict and tension between the parents.
The couple finalized their divorce during Season 5 of the show. Deon has confirmed that they won’t be working with TLC anymore. However, he recently revealed that the Derricos are getting a new show in 2026. The new show will address the divorce. “You will see it all unravel … I really want you guys to understand how this happened,” he said.
