Alaskan Bush People‘s Rain Brown spoke out for the first time since her arrest on first-degree burglary charges.

Rain, 22, shared a Bible verse from the book of Matthew to her Instagram page that read, “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgement, ye judge, ye shall be judged,” on Sunday, April 20. The post coincided with Easter Sunday.

In the caption, Rain seemingly hinted at what might have led to her and husband Josiah Lorton getting arrested in Okanogan County, Washington, on April 11. The duo was charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree malicious mischief.

Rain was booked under her full legal name, Merry Christmas Kathryn Raindrop Brown. In addition to the burglary and mischief charges, she was also hit with a third charge of second-degree criminal trespass. Both she and Josiah, 33, were released without bail on April 14.

The reality star referred to a financial dispute with her former manager. She has not directly addressed the circumstances surrounding her arrest, nor have the authorities.

“It hurts my heart that my rainbows would choose to believe the lies that my old manager who stole $43,000 from me and abused me instead of maybe thinking ‘Oh no who is saying this about Rain?’ Not ‘wow what a waste.’” she began in her caption.

“It deeply hurts my heart. With all this said I hope y’all will stick around to hear my side of the story,” Rain added.

Fans were divided by Rain’s first post since her arrest.

“Well, transparency is helpful,” one person wrote in the comments, while a second was more sympathetic, telling Rain, “Wow! I always kind of felt that some of the Brown family were getting ripped off somehow someway. Sending positive vibes your way.”

A third person laid out a thoughtful reply, explaining to Rain, “Fans do not know what to believe as you have not given any information nor have authorities other than there have been arrests and charges. So, until fans are given proper information how can they make any opinions? If your manager owes you money you can file a lawsuit to get money owed to you. Why were you and your husband arrested?”

Rain did not address how Josiah might have been involved, failing to mention him in her post.

The Discovery Channel star announced in January that she and Josiah had married after less than two years of dating.

Rain wrote via Instagram, “Baby, this is our world now. Yes. I’m married, y’all,” on January 30, along with a photo of the pair dressed in stylish outerwear while posing in front of a snow-capped peak.

Rain first revealed she had a boyfriend in a December 2023 Instagram post. The following month, she detailed how the couple met at work, where she was employed as a waitress and Josiah was the head chef.

“We were fast friends and slowly fell madly in love with each other. It was like magnets that you just couldn’t keep apart any longer,” Rain said about their relationship.

“One day I came to visit, and I never left. Josiah has showed me what real pure genuine love is and continues to show me every day what a beautiful thing this life can be,” Rain gushed. “And baby I give you my word you will always have a home with me, I will never abandon you, I will never give up on you, I will always cherish you, and above all else I will show you the love you have showed me tenfold! I love you forever.”

As the youngest child of late patriarch Billy Brown and his wife, Ami Brown, fans watched Rain grow up on Alaskan Bush People. The show has been on an extended hiatus since season 14 came to an end in December 2022.

Billy died in February 2021 at 68 years old after suffering from a seizure.

A report surfaced in March that Alaskan Bush People was going to be canceled amid a $500,000 lawsuit between Billy’s estate and his business partner, Robert Maughon, according to The U.S. Sun.

The outlet reported that Robert filed a breach of contract lawsuit against Billy’s estate and business, Alaskan Wilderness Family Productions, in April 2021 — just two months after the reality star died.

The Discovery Channel has not officially announced the cancellation of Alaskan Bush People as of April 21, but network reps also have been mum about the series returning.

Rain’s older brother Bear Brown, however, admitted that he and his family are “not filming” their show “right now,” but assured fans the show has not been axed.

Bear, 37, claimed that the reason for Alaskan Bush People‘s extended hiatus was due to Discovery’s “super big merger a few years ago,” telling fans the network is “still getting their ducks in a row” after WarnerMedia merged with Discovery, Inc. to become Warner Bros. Discovery in April 2022.

The show premiered in 2014, focusing on Billy, Ami and their seven children as they lived off the land near Hoonah, Alaska. The family’s relocation to Tonasket, Washington, was documented in season 8 of the reality series.
