In 2024, Kelly Jo took to social media to share the heartbreaking news that Mama Jane was diagnosed with cancer. The Bringing Up Bates star shared photos of her mother-in-law with a bandage on her nose, and it’s where the cancer was detected. Mama Jane had to undergo multiple radiation treatments.
Kelly Jo revealed that it was very difficult for Mama Jane, especially while her late husband, Papa Bill, was suffering from symptoms of dementia. Fortunately, Mama Jane completed her radiation sessions. But the challenge isn’t over for the 86-year-old, as she now suffers from another health condition.
Carlin Reveals Grandma Jane In An Emergency
Carlin recently took to YouTube to share a vlog featuring the Bates family’s “I Love You Day,” an annual event where the family dresses up and does many activities at the big house. It’s their way to celebrate Valentine’s Day, and it’s one of the most highly anticipated events in the family every year.
Carlin even shared glimpses from their games, showing that everything was going well. But later in the vlog, Carlin shared some updates about her grandmother, saying that she suffered from a stroke. Carlin revealed that one of her uncles found Mama Jane lying at the farm, and she wouldn’t have made it if she hadn’t been found sooner.
Carlin then said that Mama Jane has been in the ICU for quite some time, which explains her odd absence on social media. She also revealed that everyone in the family traveled to North Carolina to visit Mama Jane, and they’re now taking turns to keep an eye on her.
Moments later, Carlin revealed that Mama Jane was just removed from the ICU, and she’s now showing signs of good recovery. Many fans took to the comments section to pray for Mama Jane’s recovery.
