BARELY SURVIVING Survivor ratings plummet to lowest EVER in 25-year history as show ‘struggles to stay relevant’

SURVIVOR ratings have plummeted to the lowest they’ve ever been in the show’s 25-year history, The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal.

In addition to viewership taking a tumble, the amount of audience engagement has also drastically decreased as the franchise seemingly “struggles” to maintain relevancy.

Currently, the Nielsen live ratings have shown that Survivor‘s season 49 ratings are at least 500,000 less each week than they were throughout season 48.

“Ratings have hit a low. Audience engagement is at an all-time low,” a production insider told The U.S. Sun.

“The show is struggling to maintain the relevancy it used to have, even just a handful of years ago.

“At this point, production is just in cruise control until season 50. Not that season 49 isn’t important, it is, but the focus is all on 50.

“All eyes are on 50 and making sure that’s a huge success. 49 is not as much of a priority.

“And it’s just something they have to get through at this point,” the source claimed.

The season 49 premiere brought in 4.027 million live viewers, while the season 48 premiere had 4.3 million tuning in, according to Nielsen.

The second, third, fourth, and fifth weeks for Survivor season 49 plateaued with similar numbers, while ratings increased as the weeks went on for season 48.

Mid-season of 48 reached a high with 5 million people during weeks 7 and 12.

The same week 7 ratings for season 49 dipped below 4 million, bringing in just 3.9 million viewers.

In addition to viewership being lower, audience engagement has also struggled this year, and fans who are continuing to engage with the show have expressed an overwhelmingly negative response.

“I’m done with Survivor 49 it’s the worst season I’ve ever seen I hate the cast worst players ever,” one person wrote.

“Survivor 49 may just be the worst season ever. Boring first two episodes,” an X user tweeted.

“The survivor 49 cast is far and away the worst I have ever seen. They need to stop trying to fill every demographic and actually get real players who can physically do stuff,” another insisted.

While one more also said that it was time for host Jeff Probst to hang up his hat for good: “49 is just as corny as 48.

“How 5 people made it onto 50 from two of the worst corniest seasons is insane to me…. Jeff really needs to retire. He’s completely detached from what the true fans want.”

Chatter around season 49 is quiet; however, season 50 has continued to cause buzz amongst the Survivor fan base.

It will feature all-returning fan-favorite players, including Cirie Fields, Mike White, Ozzy Lusth, and more.

The upcoming Survivor 50 season will premiere with an action-packed THREE-hour premiere on February 25th, 2026.
