“Sadly, several FAKE accounts have popped up on Instagram and on Facebook that are sharing fake news,” Kelly Jo captioned her update. “They mix this with real news and pictures that have been copied to make it look more authentic.”

She continued, “A recent FAKE post shows Lawson in a hospital & states he was in a motorcycle wreck. These fake accounts often scam people by asking for donations! PLEASE do not get scammed!”

To conclude her message, Kelly Jo reminded fans, “I will never ask for money for myself or a family member. Our official accounts on Instagram and Facebook have a verified blue check mark. I have included the true Facebook link in my stories.”

In her Instagram Stories, Kelly Jo announced, “Please be aware that this is a FAKE Facebook account!” next to a screenshot of the imposter.

She also included a screenshot of a fake article with a headline that read, “Prayers Needed ❤️: Lawson Bates Seriously Injured in Accident — Concussion Confirmed, Fans Left Worried.”

“This recent post about Lawson and a motorcycle wreck is also FAKE news on this account!” the Bates family matriarch warned. “Please do not give to any Go Fund Me on our behalf that is advertised by these fake accounts!”

Additionally, Kelly Jo posted the link to her family’s only verified Facebook account.

In the comments of her Instagram post, followers thanked Kelly Jo for the heads-up and condemned the person behind the false reports.

One fan shared, “Goodness! 😢 I just hate that yall are even having to make this announcement. What a sad world we all living in! @thebatesfam.”

Another Instagram user wrote, “I love your family so much. A bucket list of mine is to come visit your church and meet ya’ll. Lord willing it will happen. Thank you for letting us know about the scam that’s out there ❤️.”

Someone else shared, “Thank you for letting us know!! We love the Bates family and keeping you all in our prayers ✨️🙏✨️.”

Although Lawson was not recently hospitalized, his sister, Erin, spent three weeks in the hospital after giving birth to baby No. 7. She experienced several complications after delivering a baby boy, Henry, on Aug. 25, including septic shock and a seizure. She was finally discharged in mid-September, not long after her sister, Carlin Bates, gave birth to her third baby.
